20180328道心堅固長慧命Living Out the Four Great Vows with Sincerity, Integrity, Faith and

Everyone, I sincerely wish that you can keep making progress as my disciples. I'm grateful that you are committed to walking our path, and it's my earnest and continued wish that all of you can keep growing in wisdom. You are given life by yours parents, and my responsibility as your master is to nurture your wisdom-life, because our wisdom-life is what we take with us life after life.

Coming to this world, none of us knows what lies ahead in our next lives. Neither edo we know where we'd come from of what karmic affinities brought us to this world. Also unknown to us is where we will go in our next life. Yet, since karmic affinities have brought us together in this life, we should have a shared direction. We truly must hold onto the Buddha's teachings, which is what we should all strive for.

The Buddha's teachings point out a path for us to follow. Having learned about this right path in life, we still need to explore the Buddha's teachings, as we shouldn't follow a path without understanding its truths. We must analyze the Buddha's teachings with wisdom to determine whether or not the principles are correct and worth abiding by. Only when we consider a principle to be correct and worthy of our commitment will it stand as a true principle to us.

To serve as living bodhisattvas, we need to live out true principles in the world. This is our shared direction which we must vow to follow. (For the sake of our future lives to come, ) we should form good affinities by reaching out to people in all directions. Wherever we go, we can always live out our value in life by contributing to the good of people there. Where we'll end up in our next life depends on our karmic affinities. (And to have a better next life, )we should be clear about what we need to do now.

That's why we need to walk the Bodhisattva Path and practice the Six Paramitas, (which are the six methods for guiding living beings to enlightenment. ) there are still so many people suffering from starvation? Seeing the great suffering of those living in starvation, I feel great pain and sadness in my heart.

We've seen many humanitarian organizations in the world bring aid to those who suffer from starvation. As the relief supplies are dropped down from the truck, those in need have to jostle through the crowd to scramble for a pack of food. Those who are strong can probably snatch at several packs, whereas those who are physically weak may not be able to get even a pack. Such is truly great suffering. My heart truly goes out to them.

Tzu Chi is also a humanitarian organization. As we give out relief supplies to the needy, we also find ways to express our genuine love. To care for people with genuine love, we need to give and serve not only with love but also with decorum. So, to serve as Tzu Chi volunteers, one has to complete our volunteer training first. To care for the needy with gentle and genuine love, our volunteers need to cultivate themselves first when inter acting and working with one another.

As Tzu Chi members, we need to walk the Bodhisattva Path and practice the Six Paramitas. First, we should give of our love and do our best to serve others. Most importantly, we need to take care of our minds and give with a loving heart. With that, we can inspire love in everyone and purify people's hearts and minds.

Yet, to purify people's hearts and minds, we need to purify ours first. So, giving also means bringing love to people, sharing the Dharma with them, and guiding them to grow in wisdom. This is how we benefit the humanity and spread the Dharma to deliver all living beings. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas share the same vow to deliver all living beings.

The first one of the Four Great Vows is to deliver all living beings that are incalculable. As Tzu Chi members, we should cultivate sincerity. We should vow with utmost sincerity to deliver all living begins. Yet, to deliver all living beings, we must transform ourselves first. To transform ourselves, we should cleanse away our afflictions first. For the questions of why we came to this world and what the right path in life is, we should look for the answers from within.

We must keep our hearts in the right direction. With the right direction in mind, we can find the right path in life and further inspire others to walk the path together. This is our shared direction. Everyone, we must truly give and serve with enlightened love. We must care for all living beings with love. Not only should we harbor love towards humans, but we should also cherish all living beings. This is what we should awaken to.

Everyone, may you all make vows to mindfully live out the Four Great Vows with sincerity. As Tzu Chi members, we must cultivate sincerity, integrity, faith, and honesty. We should vow with utmost sincerity to deliver all living beings. And we should all make vows to eliminate our afflictions with an upright mind.

We need to uphold right views, right belief, and right conduct, (which are part of the Eightfold Path. ) By taking action to follow the Eightfold Path, we can eliminate our afflictions. Our afflictions do not come from external sources. Rather, afflictions arise from our own minds. It is because we get attached to external conditions and fantasize about things that we end up thinking too much and are left with many afflictions that trouble ourselves. This is how afflictions arise. This is how we give rise to ignorance from our sixth consciousness.

In all, we should mindfully transform our consciousnesses into what is upright and turn them into wisdom. Only with right views and right conduct can we truly grow in wisdom. May you bear this in mind at all times. Also, we should uphold faith and learn the Dharma. We must also vow to attain Buddhahood with a true heart.

We must accomplish something with our learning, so we should harbor a true and honest heart. So, in Tzu Chi, we should cultivate sincerity, integrity, faith, and honesty. Only then can we live out the vows of all the Buddhas. And among the vows made by Buddhas, the Four Great Vows are the ones they all share.

Since we're learning the Dharma, we should also make the Four Great Vows. And we should live out our vows by upholding sincerity, integrity, faith, and honesty.
