20140315 身心平安最大富Peace and Stability Bring True Blessings in Life
Today is Mach 15. It is the three-year mark for the Syrina unrest which has created so many refugees. Many countries have these Syrian refugees, and in Jordan, there are 600,000. Bu, we don’t have many Tzu Chi volunteers in Jordan. So, the number of refugees they can care for is limited.
When the refugees are ill, it’s difficult for them to get medical attention. But, we do what we can to help these refugees.
About two weeks ago, a team of doctors and volunteers from our Tzu Chi Int’l Med. Assn. TIMA went to Jordan to provide free clinics to the Syrian refugees and the Bedouin people there. Though it’s a long distance of thousands of kilometers to Jordan, out of compassion for those in suffering, they still went there to do what they could to help them.
The love and care of our TIMA members have warmed the hearts of the refugees and the Bedouin people. So, before our eyes, we can already see how when society is rocked by strife and unrest, even if you have a high position in society or a lot of wealth, once society loses peace and stability, all your wealth turns into nothing.
We’ve also seen how there are refugees who are doctors or lawyers. But after fleeing Syria, they cannot practice their profession. Jordan is willing to take them in as refugees, but they are not permitted to work and earn a livelihood.
Even a job like driving a vehicle is not allowed.
There was a job that paid 400 JD a month I was not allowed to do it I went to the Minister of Labor. They said Syrians are not allowed to work in Jordan.
So, we can see how hard their circumstances are. In a word, we really need to cherish our society’s peace and stability. A peaceful society is only possible if everyone’s hearts are peaceful and steady. How to steady and pacify our hearts? By always being grateful for what we have.
Firstly, we need to be grateful for having balance in Nature so that we can live safely on this land without disaster with Nature providing resources for our survival.
Next, we must be grateful that everyone in society can live in peace and harmony with one another, allowing society to function properly so everyone has the opportunity to contribute their skills and labor in work to earn a livelihood and fulfill necessary functions in society.
If people can furthermore be humanitarian and help society’s underprivileged and needy, that will be even getter and will create public good. In Tzu Chi, we can see many living examples of people who are wealthy but also humanitarian.
In these past ten to twenty years, we’ve held activities for entrepreneurs every year. After attending, these heads of successful businesses all changed their mentality and attitude about life. Their values completely changed. They realized that they used society’s resources to succeed in business, so they must actively give back to society
When the CEO takes this action, the employees will observe the efforts being made. So, when the CEO next invites the employees to join him or her in working for the public good, I believe he or she will have earned their respect and they will be willing to give their all to support their CEO。
When doing service work, these CEOs can work alongside their employees as equals, without any ego or top-down mentality. Is there anything equal to such happiness? Such caring for people of all faiths isn’t this the biggest kind of heart we can have?
With such big, open hearts, we will be at peace with the world. We can experience such liberating happiness. It all comes down to just a shift in thinking. With that change in mentality, they can become even richer.
Though they already have material wealth, by having love for others, they will have inner riches which, having no form, are limitless. These are what give us true blessings in life.
I keep encouraging everyone to live a simpler life by consuming less and to help the people in need with the money saved. There is an entrepreneur in Taiwan who owns a very large business. He’s responding to my call to live a simpler life.
Every morning, he eats a simple meal of boiled vegetables and makes his lifestyle simple. He also conserves water and electricity. So, he treats his employees magnanimously, volunteers to serve the public, and simplifies his lifestyle to conserve resources I really commend him for all this.
Many other entrepreneurs are also volunteering in Tzu Chi. They originally started out as Tzu Chi donors, then trained to be a Tzu Cheng member, and even went on to be a Tzu Chi commissioner. They are truly hard to come by in the way they personally serve and do good as wholehearted volunteers.
Our society really needs its wealthy to give and work for the collective good like this, for actually, only when society is well can businesses do well.
Also, in the recent days, our attention has been on what happened to the missing plane from Malaysia Airlines. Look, it has been missing for seven to eight days and there’s still no news of its whereabouts. Tzu Chi volunteers have been mobilized to help. In addition to our volunteers in Kuala Lumpur, even our volunteers in Kelantan have prepared themselves to help as needed.
因為這幾天來，這樣的媒體訊息都在追蹤著，按照它的航程的推測，擴大了搜救的方向，就是馬來西亞的吉蘭丹，就是靠近港口，所以慈濟人也要來支援吉蘭丹。
Since the day the plane went missing, the media has been following the news closely. Based on its projected flight path, the search area has been widened to include the sea by Malaysia’s Kelantan State, so our volunteers there are also preparing to help as needed.
We also see our Beijing volunteers looking after the family of the passengers. Our volunteers also give encouragement and care to the staff of Malaysia Airlines. At the same time, they’ve prepared a mobile food station to serve vegetarian meals to the staff of Malaysia Airlines.
The staff are very happy to have such a nice and simple vegetarian meal. Our volunteers gifted each staff with a reusable utensil set : cup, bowl, and chopsticks.
All in all, we have seen many touching scenes from the care our volunteers provided. However, the key question remains. Where is this missing plane of Malaysia Airlines? This is the main concern for everyone, especially for the family of those on board.
Our volunteers have responded to this incident, and we will continue to provide care and support. In conclusion, for every day we are safe and well, we need to be grateful and contribute to our society’s good. That’s how we murture our wisdom-life.
